The vision and the energy for the establishment of the Fort Rock Valley Historical Homestead Museum came from the Fort Rock Valley Historical Society, for which Frank and Vivian Stratton were prime movers. Both Frank and Vivian were homestead kids in the valley.  Vivian's sense of place for this locality shows in the emotions expressed in her poetry.  Frank's vision and dedication gave many around him the inspiration to bring the museum into relality.

There were eight founding members of the historical society.  All of them are gone except Vivian Stratton, who is now 104 years old living in a nursing home in Redmond.
